CISA Certified Information System Auditor

CGAP Certified Government Auditing Professional

The Certified Government Auditing Professional® (CGAP®) is a specialty certification designed for and by public-sector internal auditing practitioners. The exam tests a candidate's knowledge of the unique features of public-sector internal auditing — fund accounting, grants, legislative oversight, confidentiality rights, and more. The program’s broad scope emphasizes the internal auditor’s role in strengthening accountability to the public and improving government services.

The National State Auditors Association has a publication entitled, Auditing in the States, that contains a wealth of information.  The book is located in the member’s only section of the NASACT Web site at http://www.nasact.org/memonly/publications.cfm.  The following two tables address certifications of other state auditors and means selected for office.

I feel Mississippi should have a state auditor that meets the same standards of our sister states Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Texas and Florida.  If even Guam and Puerto Rico have a CPA for a state auditor, why should we settle for a non accountant?
